Red Lion Players of the Week Announced
The following CCC student-athletes have been recognized as Red Lion Players of the Week for their performances during the period March 19 - 25.
Brad Smith
Baseball – Pitcher of the Week
British Columbia’s Brad Smith has been named the Red Lion Baseball Pitcher of the Week. Smith, a senior from Vancouver, B.C., helped the Thunderbirds to a win over Oregon Tech this week by striking out nine hitters in seven innings pitched.

Jaxon Valcke
Baseball – Player of the Week
Jaxon Valcke of British Columbia has been named the Red Lion Baseball Player of the Week.
Valcke, a freshman right field from Stratford, Ont., stood out across the board recording a batting average of 0.308 out of 26 at bats over six games. Valcke converted one of his eight hits into a home run and 4 other into runs.

Brooks Ney
Men’s Outdoor - Field
College of Idaho’s Brooks Ney has been named the Red Lion Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.
Ney, a senior from Caldwell, Idaho, placed 4th in the decathlon at the Sam Adams Invitational in Spokane, with his score of 6,171 points, a new personal best, and met the provisional mark for the NAIA Championships. Ney also placed 5th in both the javelin (162-7 PR) and the shot put (37-3 PR), along with the 110-hurdles (16.17) and the 400m (51.79).

Nathan Martin
Men’s Outdoor - Track
Nate Martin of Corban has been named the Red Lion Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.
Martin, a senior from Turner, Ore., clocked an NAIA ‘A’ standard time in the 110m Hurdles (14.63 seconds), setting a new school record in the process. After that first-place finish, he then won the 200m while running amidst rainy and windy conditions, registering a time of 22.22 seconds.

Hailey Kline
Softball – Pitcher of the Week
Eastern Oregon’s Hailey Kline has been named the Red Lion Softball Pitcher of the Week.
Kline, a senior from Pendleton, Ore., continued her dominance this season, allowing just one run in 16 innings pitched. She threw a complete game shutout in Game 1 of the series, limiting the Yotes to just four hits. She then earned the save in Game 2 with two shutout innings. On Saturday, Kline helped lead EOU to the sweep in CCC counting games with another complete game. She struck out 15 batters and walked just four. Kline now owns an 8-2 record on the season and has helped lead EOU to a 10-game winning streak.

Shevan DeFreitas
Softball – Player of the Week
Eastern Oregon’s Shevan Defreitas has been named the Red Lion Softball Player of the Week.
Defreitas, a junior first base from Waipahu, HI, led the Mounties to a sweep of C of I, finishing 6-for-12 at the plate with 7 RBI and 3 runs scored. She had home runs in both games on Saturday as EOU extended its winning streak to 10 games. Defreitas had the big hit in Game 2 Saturday with the team trailing 7-5, by hitting a 3-run home run to put the Mounties ahead for good.

Bailey Dell
Women’s Outdoor - Field
Northwest Christian’s Bailey Dell has been named the Red Lion Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.
Dell, a senior from La Salle, Ontario and two-time defending CCC champion and 2017 runner-up, holds the No. 1 spot in the CCC and NAIA national list. She threw a mark of 44.47, not her season-long, but still longer than any other thrower in the NAIA this season. Her distance defeated second-place by over 21 feet.

Katie Emerson
Women’s Outdoor - Track
Eastern Oregon’s Katie Emerson has been named the Red Lion Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.
Emerson, a junior from Almira, Wash., won the women’s 400m hurdles at the NNU Open to qualify for the CCC Championships. Her time ranks the 10th best in the NAIA this season as she missed a ‘B’ standard mark by .64 of a second.
