Red Lion Players of the Week Announced
The following CCC student-athletes have been recognized as Red Lion Players of the Week for their performances during the period February 26 – March 4.
Chase Wago
Baseball – Pitcher of the Week
Oregon Tech’s Chase Wago has been named the Red Lion Baseball Pitcher of the Week.
Wago, freshman from Ewa Beach, Hawaii, improved to 4-1 on the year with his gutsy effort over C of I, he went the first 10 innings allowing one-earned run with six strikeouts and no walks.

Ben Ross
Baseball – Player of the Week
Corban’s Ben Ross has been named the Red Lion Baseball Player of the Week.
Ross, a senior designated hitter from Wasilla, Alaska, blasted three home runs over the weekend; totaling five hits while scoring five runs and five RBI en route to leading the Warrior to a series win against Whitman.

Seth Gretz
Men’s Indoor - Field
Oregon Tech’s Seth Gretz has named the Red Lion Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week.
Gretz, a senior from Rogue River, Ore., finished 3rd overall in the school record score of 5057 points including 1st place finish in the Pole Vault of 4.80 m (15’ 9.57”). He also hit a lifetime best in the High Jump at 1.93 m (6’ 4”) while also breaking the school record. Adding to the list, he hit a PR in the shot put by 10” with his throw of 10.49 m (34” 3’). On the third day of competition, finished 12th, his highest ever finish in the open Pole Vault.

Men's Distance Medley Relay Team
Men’s Indoor - Track
The Men’s Distance Medley Relay Team of Eastern Oregon has been named the Red Lion Men’s Indoor Track Athletes of the Week.
The Men’s Distance Medley Relay Team, composed of Thomas Morrell III, Devin Lewis-Allen, Dustin Zimmerly and Michael Slagowski, won the national title with a program record of 10:00.46. This was the program’s first indoor national title in any relay. The quartet won a thrilling race by 0.01 of a second to defeat Olivet Nazarene. Morrell III, Zimmerly and Slagowski had also just previously run in individual races earlier that day. Slagowski finished 2nd in the mile in 4:10.01, Morrell III took 4th in the 800 meters in 1:52.51 and Zimmerly placed 6th in the 1,000 meters in 2:30.98 to all become All-Americans individually.

Kelly Scott
Softball – Pitcher of the Week
Kelly Scott of Oregon Tech has been named the Red Lion Softball Pitcher of the Week.
Scott, a senior from Klamath Falls, Ore., improved to 7-2 on the year with two great complete game victories dropping her season ERA to just 1.23.

Dre Sotelo
Softball – Player of the Week
Dre Sotelo of Oregon Tech has been named the Red Lion Softball Player of the Week.
Sotelo, a junior right fielder from Centro, Calif., introduced herself to the Cascade conference with a 7-for-11 effort including five-RBI, two-doubles, and huge two-run homer.

Amberly Melendez
Women’s Indoor - Track
Amberly Melendez of Northwest has been named the Red Lion Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.
Melendez, a freshman from Edinburg, Texas, left her mark in the women’s 3000m Race Walk at the National Indoor Track and Field Championships. She took 2nd place that qualifies her as an All-American status. She not only made a statement at Nationals, but also set a new NU School Record.
