Eagles Take the First Game and Show Exhaustion Late in the Second Game
TUCSON, Ariz. – The Eagles started the second day off beating Madonna University by one run. Then the Eagles started to show their exhaustion in the second game.
Game One: Northwest University 3, Madonna University 2
Northwest University was able to capture three runs off of seven hits to take another victory in Tucson, Arizona. Darian Godfrey led the Eagle going two for three at the plate with a single and a double. The Crusaders were knocking at our door in the bottom of the sixth inning with the bases loaded and two outs. Rachel Hawley was able to get out of the inning and then followed up the seventh inning strong, by shutting down the top of the lineup, three up, three down.
Game two: Northwest University 4, Saint Xavier University 10
The Eagles were off to another great start leading four to one in the bottom of the third inning. Then Saint Xavier brought in Allison Golic to pitch and our game took a down turn. The Eagles did not bring in a run after the third inning and Saint Xavier showed strength late in the game by scoring a combined nine runs in the fourth and fifth innings. The highlight of the Eagles offense came early in the first inning when Alicia Loiler hit a homerun. The Xavier’s answered in the fifth inning when they had back-to-back home runs by Tori Williams and Jenna Haase.
