MSU Northern's Matt Weber Tabbed Conference Wrestler of the Year
LA GRANDE, Ore. – Matt Weber, a junior from Montana State University-Northern, has been selected as the Cascade Collegiate Conference Wrestler of the Year by a vote of the league coaches.
The Forsyth, Montana native captured a runner-up finish at the recently completed NAIA National Championships. His second place finish was at the 141 pound weight class in which he came into the tournament seeded 5
th and upset the defending national champion in the semifinals.
The two-time All-American had a season record of 33-11 with nineteen of his wins coming by fall. Against NAIA competition Weber was 24-5 on the year and earned All-Conference honors with his second-place finish at the inaugural CCC Championships. His record in conference matches was 10-3 with his only losses coming from SOU’s Devan Poppen.
Weber led his Lights team to a fourth place overall finish in the team standings at the NAIA Championships and was named a 2018 NAIA Scholar Athlete.
