Kirkland, Wash. – Corban University walked away from day one with two wins. The Warriors shut out the Eagles, 9-0, in 5 innings and won the second game 9-5 in 7 innings.

Game One: Northwest University 0, Corban University 9 (5 innings)
Northwest University (7-11, 1-3 CCC) started the first game with Rachel Hawley pitching. Rachel showed well over the week in Arizona but seems to have a rough start this morning. The Warriors started the first inning with the bases loaded but Hawley was able to escape without allowing a run. The next 4 innings were much more difficult to slow down the powerful bats of the Warriors.

Sabrina Boyd started the day off well for the Warriors (9-4, 2-0 CCC) by only allowing 4 hits and striking out 6 eagles in 5 innings. Boyd did not allow any Eagles to get beyond second base for the entire game.

Game Two: Northwest University 5, Corban University 9
Hannah Yelas did everything she could to keep Northwest University (7-12, 1-4 CCC) in the game. Not only did Yelas pitch all seven innings, she also went 3 for 4 at the plate. Harshaw and Tighe both had doubles in the bottom of the 4th inning to pull the game with in one run.

Corban University (10-4, 3-0 CCC) seemed to make changes at the right time. Rachel White came into pitch in the bottom of the 4th to shut down the Eagles energy! Then the Warriors responded with two more runs, one of the runs being a single-run homerun from Mahina Chong, in the top of the 5th to extend their lead to 7 to 4. Corban University picked up two unearned runs in the 7th inning to take the 9 to 5 victory.
