Southern Oregon Softball Named Team of the Week
LA GRANDE, Ore. –The Southern Oregon University softball team has been named the “Team of the Week” for March 26-April 1 the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced.
The No. 14 team in the country defeated No. 7 Corban University to vault into first place in the CCC. The Raiders would win the conference series taking two of three games and followed that up with a victory in the fourth game of the series, a non-conference affair.
Friday’s double-header was a dandy and not decided until Hannah Shimek drove a double to the centerfield wall that scored Kelsey Randall from second base with no outs in the bottom of the ninth, giving SOU the walk off 6-5 extra-inning victory. The win also ended a seven game losing streak to Corban. The Warriors would earn the split on the day winning game two 7-0.

Harlee Donovan's base hit moved Shimek to second and Karlee Coughlin drove the ball into left field to secure the 1-0 win for SOU. The Raiders would again win in dramatic fashion in game two winning the non-league contest 11-10 in extra innings.
Southern (29-9, 12-3 CCC) will travel to Northwest Christian for games on April 6-7.
