ASHLAND, Ore. – Oregon Tech All-American
Seth Gretz won the Cascade Conference Decathlon Championships for the third consecutive year Friday afternoon at Southern Oregon University.

Hunter Drops finished 7
th in the event with
Amber Von Essen finishing 3
rd and the Owls
Allison Young finishing 6
th in the Heptathlon to wrap up the OIT scoring in the CCC Multi Championships.
Gretz the two time defending Cascade Conference Decathlon Champion won three of the opening five events on day 1 to take a lead, he added to that lead today after the first event winning the 110 hurdles in a time of 15.09 and held on for the win over the final three events.
Drops won the Pole Vault Friday with a leap of 4.85m (15-11) Gretz finished second with his best leap of 4.75m (15-07). Drops then won the Javelin with a throw of 58.92m (193-04) with Gretz finishing 7
th.
Gretz finished 5
th in the final event the 1,500 meter run but had enough of a lead to hold on for the Championship with 6895 points. Michael Schmidt of Corban was 287 points behind Gretz in second place with 6608 points. Drops finished in 7
th 5964.
In the Heptathlon, Von Essen had a great second day, finishing in 2
nd place in the final three events. She had a jump of 5.24m (17-01.50) in the long jump, just ¾ of an inch behind the winner. She only had one counting throw in the Javelin at 31.05m (101-10") and finished up the Multi's with a 2:26.32 time in the 800 meter run.
Young was 11
th in the long jump, 6
th in the Javelin and 8
th in the 800.

Jack Kegg, "I am really proud of how the men competed the last two days. Allison had a great first hept, and made our top ten list. Amber competed well through a tough couple of days' things didn't go well but she was a tough minded competitor every event."
