KEIZER, Ore. – The Corban University baseball team almost pulled an upset of No. 7-ranked Lewis-Clark State College for the second time in three days, but the Navy and Gold ended up falling in 11 innings to the three-time defending national champions, 5-3. Corban will head now into the Cal Pac Tournament and will play Marymount (Calif.) in the tournament's opening game on Sunday, May 6.

"Today was a fun day of competition," said Corban head coach Derek Legg. "This weekend has definitely prepared us for the conference tournament next weekend. Thank you to all the seniors and their families for what they have done for Warrior Baseball. We can't wait to compete next weekend."

Prior to the start of the game, Corban honored its 16 seniors in a special Senior Day ceremony, as those seniors competed in their final regular-season home contests for Corban.

Corban took the lead in the bottom half of the first inning when Daniel Freiburger lined a ball back up the middle for a two-RBI base knock, and the score stayed that way until the seventh when Corban added another on a wild pitch.

Up 3-0 in the eighth, Lewis-Clark State battled back to score a pair of runs and make it a one-run ballgame. Corban was then one out and one strike away from finishing off the win in the ninth, but LCSC's Cory Voss singled to right-center, scoring the tying run.

Two unearned runs were then scored in the 11th inning by Lewis-Clark State, and Corban was unable to bounce back with two in the bottom half of the frame, ending the game.

Corban tallied just three hits as a team in the 11 innings, while LCSC notched 10.

Corban (27-24) returns to action next Sunday when it begins the Cal Pac Tournament. The tournament is slated for May 6-8 in Mesa, Ariz., and the Warriors will take on No. 5-seeded Marymount (Calif.) at 9 a.m. as the No. 4 seed. Full details to be made available soon.
