The following CCC student-athletes have been recognized as Red Lion Players of the Week for their performances during the period April 23 - 29.

Tyler Burch

Baseball – Pitcher of the Week
Tyler Burch of Lewis-Clark State has been named the Red Lion Baseball Pitcher of the Week.

Burch, a junior from East Wenatchee, Wash., struck out 10 in pitching a complete game for the Warriors, who were in the midst of a nine-day road trip during which they played 10 games.

Kyle McComb

Baseball – Player of the Week
Kyle McComb of British Columbia has been named the Red Lion Baseball Player of the Week.

McComb, a senior short stop from Surrey, B.C., played in two of UBC’s three games this weekend. He tied the school record for hits in a game in the first contest Sunday at Oregon Tech.

Mayson Tibbs

Men’s Golf
Oregon Tech’s Mayson Tibbs has been named the Red Lion Men’s Golfer of the Week.

Tibbs, a freshman from Prineville, Ore., won medalist honors leading the Owls to the CCC Tournament Championship.

Hunter Drops

Men’s Outdoor - Field
Hunter Drops of Oregon Tech has been named the Red Lion Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.

Drops, a freshman from Coos Bay, Ore., finished first in Javelin at the OSU High Performance meet this week throwing 58.25.

Matthew Kirkendall

Men’s Outdoor - Track
Eastern Oregon’s Matthew Kirkendall has been named the Red Lion Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.

Kirkendall, a senior from Menifee, Calif., broke the program record, for the second-straight week, in the men’s 110-meter hurdles after besting the previous record held since 1962, at the Cougar Open. Kirkendall improved the record from 14.38 seconds down to 14.25 seconds, which is the fourth best time in the NAIA this season and an automatic qualifying mark to nationals. He also took second in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 54.25 seconds, a “B” standard mark to nationals and fourth best in EOU history.

Kelly Scott

Softball – Pitcher of the Week
Kelly Scott of Oregon Tech has been named the Red Lion Softball Pitcher of the Week.

Scott, a senior from Klamath Falls, Ore., had a season high 11 strikeouts in her no-hit shutout win lowering her season ERA to 1.90 in her 12th win of the year.

Sydney Brown

Softball – Player of the Week
British Columbia’s Sydney Brown has been named the Red Lion Softball Player of the Week.

Brown, a senior short stop from Langley, B.C., led UBC to three CCC wins over Northwest Christian, which helped the Thunderbirds first clinch the league’s final playoff spot, and then fifth place in the standings by the end of the regular season. She had eight hits in 15 at-bats, with four runs batted in. She also delivered in the biggest situations over the week. In UBC's 6-5 Game 2 win, Brown hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh inning to allow Emily Chorpita to score the game-winning run. In Game 3, the speedy shortstop beat out a seventh-inning grounder to get an infield single that plated the game-tying run. The T-Birds won the game on the next play to complete a final-inning comeback from a 12-8 deficit. Brown improved her batting average by 21 points this weekend, and finishes the regular season with an average of .371.

Stephanie Koza

Women’s Golf
Oregon Tech’s Stephanie Koza has been named the Red Lion Women’s Golfer of the Week.

Koza, a sophomore from Mililani, Hawaii, led the Lady Owls to the CCC Tournament Championship and medalist honors after a one whole playoff.

Hayley Morse

Women’s Outdoor - Field
College of Idaho’s Hayley Morse has been named the Red Lion Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.

Morse, a senior from Boise, Idaho, had a dominant performance recording the top mark in the league in all three heavy throws. She set the school record in the hammer (163-8), improving her NAIA “B” mark; recorded a personal best in the discus (139-0) and missing the NAIA “B” mark by 3 cm; but crushed her own shot put record (46-9 1/2) by 18 inches.

Susie Garza

Women’s Outdoor - Track
Oregon Tech’s Susie Garza has been named the Red Lion Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.

Garza, a junior from Baldwin Park, Calif., won her section of the women’s 800-meter run setting a new school record while also hitting an NAIA “A” qualifying time of 2:13.52.
