LA GRANDE, Ore. – Corban University's Danny Day has been named the Cascade Collegiate Conference Sports Information Director of the Year, the league office announced.

The annual award is voted on by the sports information directors of the CCC, recognizing outstanding work in promotion, work with CCC and NAIA championships events, publicity and marketing efforts.

"Congratulations to Danny Day on his selection as the Cascade Conference Sports Information Director of the Year," stated Commissioner Rob Cashell. "The high praise from his peers reflects Danny’s innovative work and dedication to Corban Athletics, as well as the CCC and the NAIA.”

Day, completing his 4th year with the Warriors, took full advantage of promotional opportunities implementing a new social media strategy during the 2017-18 academic year at Corban, utilizing photoshoots to capture high-quality photos as well as garnering video content. Both the photos and videos captured were used to create GIFs, videos, and other Gameday/Score graphics throughout the year and were used via Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.

“This is truly an honor and very humbling to be recognized among such a great group of Sports Information Directors that we have here in the CCC,” said Day. “I would not be able to do what I do without the incredible support from my wife, Tori, and all of our amazing athletic communications team here at Corban – it really is a total team effort to get the job done! At the end of the day, it is such a rewarding job to get to work with the amazing student-athletes and staff here at Corban as we continue to serve Jesus in everything we do.”

Day led the Sports Information coverage for the CCC volleyball championships hosted by Corban. Oversight included coordinating the media, statistics, video and website coverage for the two-day tournament and enabling live webcasts for all games. Day also helped with organization of and announcing at the tournament banquet, where conference award winners were recognized. He also provided media assistance at the CCC soccer and golf championships.

A leader in the CCC in video content, Day was recognized with the the award for the #1 "Publicity" video in the NAIA at the 2017 CoSIDA Convention, created and published a PROMO video for every Corban Warrior team for the 2017-18 year, oversaw the publication of 85 total videos throughout the year and directed all Warrior TV broadcasts throughout the 2017-18 campaign.

Always recognizing and promoting the efforts of Warrior student-athletes, Day spearheaded the organization, coordination, and implementation of the Second Annual Golden Warrior Awards, an ESPY's-like red carpet year-end awards show at the Elsinore Theatre in downtown Salem.

Active nationally, Day served on the NAIA-SIDA Board of Directors during this past year, acting as the 'New Media' committee chair for the NAIA-SIDA Continuing Education series, organizing and moderating video webinars that delved into topics such as social media, video content, photoshop, writing and postseason coverage. He will also be serving on a discussion panel at the 2018 CoSIDA convention in Washington D.C. in late June.

Day will go on to represent the CCC as the league nominee for the national SID of the Year Award.
