SALEM, Ore. – Corban University Athletics announced on Tuesday afternoon that Warrior men's basketball coach Austin Johnson has resigned effective immediately, to accept the head coaching position at Lewis-Clark State College.

"We are so happy for Austin and Kelli in this new adventure to a familiar place, close to her family," said Corban University President Sheldon Nord. "It has been a real pleasure having them at Corban University, and his leadership, work ethic, and care for our student-athletes will be missed. They have our 100% support and blessing."

Johnson made history in his first year as the head coach of the Warriors, guiding Corban as the No. 8 seed to the 2016-17 Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Tournament Championship and a trip to the NAIA National Tournament. The Warriors pulled off four unprecedented upsets on the road en route to earning that national tournament berth, becoming the first-ever CCC team to win the CCC Tourney as a No. 8 seed.

During the 2017-18 season, Corban finished with a 17-13 overall record, marking the best winning percentage (56.7%) for the program in 13 years, dating back to the 2004-05 season.

"There are far too many people to thank individually, but Kelli and I are grateful for the opportunity we've had here at Corban," said Johnson. "This has been the hardest decision of my life, but after much prayer, I believe this is in the best interest of our family. The administration, faculty, and staff, have been instrumental in helping impact so many lives and I consider myself one of those impacted. Ultimately, coaching is about players, and in my time at Corban, I've been the most blessed coach to have the group that we did. I'm so appreciative of their sacrifice, sincerity, and willingness to invest in the lives of those around them. I'm a better coach and man for having the Corban experience."

A national search is now underway to find the next head coach of the Corban men's basketball program. CLICK HERE to apply for the position.
