Wolves Soccer Signs 10 to Complete 2018 Recruiting Class

College Place, Wash. – Walla Walla University (WWU) men's head soccer coach William Burns has completed his roster by announcing the signing of 10 student athletes to the Cascade Collegiate Conference for the upcoming 2018 season. Burns is excited about all the options he'll have this year. "The few things I like about this incoming class is their versatility and quality," said Burns. "This incoming class is going to add much needed depth and a few starting caliber players to our young roster."
 
 
Eric Baer, of Saratoga, Calif. Eric graduated from Saratoga High School and will be a freshman at WWU. In 2011, Baer competed on the prestigious and nationally recognized De Anza Force Soccer Club in Cupertino, Calif. Baer contributed to the Force boasting a powerful defense, which held an impressive goal ratio of 1.78. In 2018, Baer helped guide Saratoga HS to the Central Coast League (CCL) semifinals, the most successful outcome in program history. Additionally, Baer was named first team ALL-SCVAL.

Baer plans to study Aviation where he can use his fluent Japanese to become a commercial pilot in Japan.

Gianni Paquini, of San Gabriel, Calif. Gianni graduated from San Gabriel Academy and will be a freshman at WWU. In 2017, Paquini was on the Eagles championship team at WWU's annual Fall Classic Soccer Tournament.

Paquini will be pursuing a degree in Nursing while he is playing soccer for the Wolves.

Jacob Smith, of Tacoma, Wash. Jacob graduated from Harrison Preparatory High School and will be a freshman at WWU. Smith graduated as an Honor Grad where he received an I.B Diploma. Additionally, Smith was member of the National Honor Society and captain of his schools soccer club.

Smith plans on pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering during his time at Walla Walla University and hopes to eventually become a soccer coach.

Carlos Cantu, of Rio Grande Valley, Texas. Carlos graduated from IDEA Pharr College Prep and will be a freshman at WWU. In 2018, Cantu was named to the All Regional Team of South Texas.

Cantu will pursue a degree in Physical Education at WWU and hopes to become a professional soccer player someday.

Jack Shannon, of Tacoma, Wash. Jack graduated from Concordia Christian Academy and will be a freshman at WWU. In 2018, Shannon received SeaTac League MVP. Additionally, Shannon has been named to WIAA 1st team All-League three consecutive years and awarded team MVP his senior year.

Shannon plans to pursue a degree in Biology at WWU and go to medical school to be an anesthesiologist.

Josiah Nakoa, of Ewa Beach, Hawaii. Nakoa graduated from James Campbell High School and will be a freshman at WWU. Nakoa is 5'8" and will play goalkeeper for the Wolves this season.

Kade Baham, of Kuna, Idaho. Baham graduated from Kuna High School and will be a freshman at WWU. Baham is 6'0" and will play center midfield for the Wolves this season.

Nickolas Squires, of Yacolt, Wash. Squires graduated from Columbia Adventist Academy and will be a freshman at WWU. Squires is 5'10" and will play center midfield for the Wolves this season.

Pedrio Teste-Pereira, of New Market, Va. Teste-Pereira graduated from Shenandoah Valley Academy and will be a freshman at WWU. Teste-Pereira is 6'2" and will play goalkeeper for the Wolves this season.

Wyatt Johnson, of Bonney Lake, Wash. Johnson graduated from Bonney Lake High School and will be a freshman at WWU. Johnson is 6'1" and will play center back for the Wolves this season.
