College of Idaho Picked No. 1 in Volleyball Coaches' Preseason Poll
LA GRANDE, Ore. – The College of Idaho volleyball program has earned the top spot in the 2018 Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) preseason coaches’ poll.
The Yotes received eight first place votes and a total of 117 points. CI finished last year 28-7 overall, 15-5 in conference play, advancing to the CCC tournament championship game before succumbing to Corban University in a 5-game thriller.
Eastern Oregon was picked in a second-place tie in the poll with 96 points along with Southern Oregon (96). Each picked up one first place vote. The Mountaineers finished 24-11 overall and 15-5 in conference while the Raiders ended 15-11 overall and 12-8 in CCC play.
Defending regular season and tournament champion Corban is picked fourth with 92 points followed by Northwest University (81) rounding out the top five. The Warriors picked up one first place vote.
Oregon Tech (58) was voted sixth while Northwest Christian University (55) and The Evergreen State College (55) are picked tied for seventh. The final three spots are Warner Pacific University (33), Multnomah University (30), and Walla Walla University (11).
The College of Idaho, Eastern Oregon, Corban and Northwest University all advanced to the NAIA Volleyball Championship final site in 2017.
The conference postseason tournament has a single-elimination format featuring the top six finishers in the regular season standings. Conference play is scheduled to begin August 30-31.
