KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – In the Cascade Conference opener for both teams it was Oregon Tech knocking off College of Idaho 2-0. The Owls improve to 2-2-1 on the year and 1-0 in CCC play with the Yotes slipping to 1-1-1 on the year and 0-1 in CCC action with Friday's result at the OIT Soccer Field.

"Opening up CCC play with a home win is always huge," said Head Coach Matt Munhall. "College of Idaho played a good match, but our defense held strong, limiting our opponent's quality looks at frame, while Gerardo Skews came up with a few big saves when needed. We turn our focus on tomorrows match up at this point, where we will have our work cut out against a strong Rocky Mountain team."

Oregon Tech broke through on the scoreboard in the 24th minute when Lodewijk Bloemzaad scored into the lower right just past the diving Yotes Goal Keeper Parker Billings. Anthony Santillan was credited with the assist for the Owls on the play.

The Owls added an insurance goal in the 60th minute as Joey Driessen converted a penalty kick after a College of Idaho foul in the box. It was the first goal of the season for Driessen.

Skews was dynamite between the pipes making several outstanding plays, he was credited with five saves on the day and shutout win.

The Owls will look to carry that momentum into Saturday's match-up with the No. 9 ranked Bears of Rocky Mountain at 1:30 pm at the OIT Soccer Field. Southern Oregon beat Rocky Mountain Friday 2-0, C of I and SOU will play Sunday in Ashland.
