Warner Pacific Edges Lions in 1-0 Contest

PORTLAND - The Multnomah University men's soccer team opened the Cascade Collegiate Conference with a 1-0 loss to Warner Pacific on Saturday at the Eastside Timbers Soccer Complex.
THE BASICS:

Records: WPU (3-3, 1-0 CCC), MU (2-3, 0-1 CCC)

GAME SUMMARY:
- The Lions came out firing on all cylinders to start the match, registering three shots with two on goal in the first fifteen minutes of the match.
- Warner Pacific caught the Lion's defense sleeping in the 24th minute, sending a through ball up the middle of the field, finding the foot of Kingsley Armah who shook the keeper before hitting the ball in the back of the net.
- MU found another big opportunity in the second half as a foul was called at the top of the box, giving the Lions a free kick. The ball deflected just off a Knight defender, keeping Warner Pacific in the lead.
KEY PERFORMERS:
- Bryan Lobato led the Lions with three shots, two on goal while MU keeper Manuel Guillermo-Olivares finished with six saves on the day.

The Lions venture on their first conference road trip next week, heading north to take on The Evergreen State College and Northwest University.
