EUGENE, Ore. – Northwest University opened their Cascade Collegiate Conference campaign on a strong note Friday night, topping the Beacons 6-0 behind a hat-trick from Katie Michkiosky.
The Eagles (2-5, 1-0 CCC) outshot NCU 19-3 in the game and held the home team to just two shots on goal, one apiece from Lauren Kogutkiewicz and Libby Gregory.
The scoring began in the 26th minute with a Sharaya Roberts header off of a corner kick from Jaclyn Metz. Just 17 seconds before the end of the half, NU struck again with a goal from Stephanie Wilson.
The Eagles put the game away with two early goals in the second half, both by Michkiosky. A pair of late goals from Bailey Travis and Michiosky respectively closed out the offense.
The Beacons (1-4, 0-1) will look to rebound on Saturday as they play host to The Evergreen State College at 7:30 pm. Northwest will head to Salem on Saturday to take on Corban University who defeated Evergreen on Friday, 2-0.
