KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. –The Oregon Tech women's soccer team beat College of Idaho Friday afternoon 2-0 at the OIT Soccer Field in the Cascade Conference opener for both teams. The win marks the first for the Lady Owls against the Yotes since 2013. Tech improves to 4-1-1 on the year and 1-0 in CCC play while COI falls to 0-1 in conference and 3-1-1 on the year.
"Outstanding performance by our ladies. That is a quality College of Idaho team that is well coached but our players came ready to compete," said Head Coach
Brandon Porter. "I thought that Amy Morikawa and Ellie Quercia put in a tremendous amount of work and were key today. I also thought my assistant coaches did a fantastic job of recognizing some changes COI made late and calling it out. Now we need to shift our focus to a battle tomorrow vs Rocky Mountain."
Ellie Quercia gave the Owls an early 1-0 lead when she put back a deflection just inside the right post in the third minute; it was her second goal of the year.
Tech dominated play in the first half, but could not add to their lead as they took the 1-0 advantage into the break despite a 6-0 edge is shots.
Amanda Seward extended the OIT lead to 2-0 when she headed a Cassidy Gosvener corner kick into the back of the net just two-minutes into the second half.
For the game OIT held a 14-6 edge in total shots and an 8-2 advantage in shots on goal.
Up next: Rocky Mountain College at 4:00 pm Saturday at the OIT Soccer Field.
