Under Armour Team of the Week Announced

LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Southern Oregon men’s soccer team has been named the “Under Armour Team of the Week” for September 10-16, as announced by the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC).  

Southern Oregon kicked off its conference slate with a pair of high-profile victories over strong CCC foes. In a matchup featuring both of last year’s CCC regular-season co-champions, the unranked Raiders began their weekend with a jolting 2-0 victory over No. 9-ranked Rocky Mountain (Mont.). 

The victory marks the second time in two seasons that Southern Oregon has upset the Battlin’ Bears, with both wins having a tremendous early impact on the hunt for the conference title.

The Raiders finished off their weekend doubleheader with another dramatic victory against the College of Idaho, with Southern Oregon defender Michael Miller netting a penalty kick in the 49^th minute of play to power the 1-0 triumph.  

The red-hot Raiders have now won five-straight contests, including four-consecutive shutouts. After a pair of impressive victories to open conference play, the chase for the CCC regular-season crown promises to be as exciting as ever, with Southern Oregon coming out of the gates strong in defense of their title.  

The Raiders (5-2, 2-0 CCC) will seek to continue their winning ways when they return to action next weekend, taking on Eastern Oregon (Fri.) and Walla Walla (Sun.) on the road.
