UBC Has Big Day 1 at C of I Invitational
CALDWELL, Idaho – A huge day by the University of British Columbia vaulted the T-Birds into the 36-hole lead at the second Cascade Conference men’s golf event of the season, the College of Idaho Invitational at TimberStone Golf Course.
Led by tremendous efforts from Andrew Harrison and Zahidali Nathu, UBC carded rounds of 281 and 279 on the 6,929-yard course, finishing the afternoon at 16-under-par, 19 strokes clear of second-place Oregon Tech.
Harrison holds the lead in the clubhouse, carding rounds of 69 and 67 – sitting at 8-under-par. He used an eagle on the par-5 14th-hole in his morning round and jumpstarted his second 18 with an eagle on the par-5 4th-hole, adding consecutive birdies on the 10th and 11th holes, finishing the inward nine at 4-under-par.
Nathu was right behind Harrison, using 13 birdies on the day to sit at 7-under-par after a 69 and 68.
Tech’ Mayson Tibbs (70-72 – 142) is third at 2-under-par, with Logan Carver (73-70 – 143) of UBC and Zach Molina (73-70 – 143) of OIT tied four fourth at 1-under-par. Chris Carew of host C of I sits in sixth – eight strokes back after an even-par 144 (73-71).
The final round begins Tuesday with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
