CALDWELL, Idaho – A near record-setting performance by Oregon Tech freshman Alejandro Armijo came up just short, as 36-hole leader Andrew Harrison of British Columbia held on for medalist honors at the College of Idaho Invitational at TimberStone Golf Course.

The work of Harrison helped UBC claim their second-straight Cascade Conference event, recording a 54-hole score of 14-under-par 850, 11-strokes ahead of second-place OIT (861) and 31-shots clear of third-place Corban (881).

Harrison (69-67-72 – 208) looked to have the tournament in control, recording a birdie and eagle on the front side to move to 11-under-par. Armijo (73-72-65 – 210) caught fire, logging four birdies and an eagle over a six-hole stretch to close the outward nine. A birdie on the 17th-hole pushed Armijo to 6-under-par, but he couldn’t get closer – despite Harrison recording a double-bogey on 16 and recording a bogey on his finishing hole.

The 65 by Armijo tied the OIT school record and was one off the CCC single-round record set by Tyler Austin at Tri-Mountain Golf Club in 2007.

UBC’s Logan Carver (73-70-67 – 210) battled back into contention with a solid final round, pulling even with Armijo for second-place.

The highlight of the day happened on the eighth hole, as Multnomah’s Collin Maguire recorded an ace on the 165-yard par-3.
