ISSAQUAH, Wash.  – Grabbing their first event victory since 2016, the Northwest Christian University women’s cross country team stunned the field on Friday morning, winning the Cascade Collegiate Conference Preview Meet at Lake Sammamish State Park.

NCU scored 32 points as a team, topping No. 12 ranked Southern Oregon by nine points. Corban University came in third, followed by Northwest University.

The victory came in large part due to the 1-2 finish of senior Cass Brownell (18:34) and Anika Rasubala (18:44). It was the first career victory for Brownell.

Emily Moon and Melissa Rios also landed in the top-ten. Moon finished seventh (19:18) while Rios took tenth (19:40). Rounding out the scoring five was Moriah Duenich, taking 12 place (19:45).

Victoria Messer also ran for the Beacons (21st, 20:46) as did Madeline Rosebrook, Brianna Jury and Tea Chatelain, taking 28th, 29th, and 30th respectively. Jasmine Lay rounded out the Beacons contingent in 32nd.

NCU will look to keep the momentum going next Saturday as they head to Salem to compete in Willamette’s Charles Bowles Invitational at Bush Park, a race that the team has won twice.
