Evergreen Beats Multnomah for First CCC Win
Maddie Lockwood and Madison Early scored second half goals as Evergreen beat Multnomah, 2-0, to pick up its first Cascade Collegiate Conference women's soccer victory of the season in a match played Saturday afternoon at Geoduck Pitch.
After a frustrating first half that saw the team outshoot the opponents, 10-1, the Geoducks (2-7-0 overall, 1-3-0 CCC) ended a string of seven straight shutout halves on Lockwood's goal at 61:31. The junior midfielder took a pass from Early and drilled a 30-yard shot over Multnomah keeper Lexis Law and just under the cross bar.
Early accounted for the second goal at 85:28, taking a pass from Ana Vigil near the end touchline, dribbling around an opponent and beating Law to the near post.
Lockwood and Early moved into the team lead with three goals apiece and Early's assist on the opening tally gives her two for the season, tops on the team.
The Evergreen defense kept the shutout intact in front of goalkeepers Megan Breckenridge and Daphne Hobbs, who split time. Hobbs was credited with two saves and picked up her first victory of the season. Multnomah finished with four total shots compared to 20 for Evergreen, which forced Law to make six saves.
The Geoducks return to conference action next Saturday when they face the Northwest University Eagles in Kirkland with kickoff slated for 3 p.m.
