HELENA, Mont. - Carroll College women's soccer team defeated Warner Pacific 5-0 Saturday afternoon at Nelson Stadium.

"We moved the ball around, had four different goal scorers and really limited their chances," said Dave Thorvilson, head coach. "The cold weather, elevation and second game in a row helped us but we're excited about the way we are playing."

Senior Payton Netz scored the first goal within the first five minutes, giving the Saints a winning start they would maintain for the rest of the game.

Shortly after Netz's goal, Kristen Girolami scored with a rebound off the goal post, leaving the score 2-0 at the end of the half.

Charly Clements was first to score in the second half with a rebound off of a penalty kick save by Warner Pacific goalie Alyssa Guthrie.

Ashley Carlson scored the last two goals for the Saints, securing Carroll's 5-0 win.

Overall the Saints had 26 shots on goal.

"We get to go on to three straight weeks of playing on the road," said Thorvilson. "We enjoyed being at home and now we have to get ready to play on the road."

The women's soccer team plays again Oct. 5 in Billings against Rocky Mountain.
