ASHLAND – After setting Southern Oregon's single-game points record last week at Walla Walla (Wash.), Raider freshman Noah Addie dropped in his most significant goal yet Saturday against Northwest Christian.
Addie headed in the first game-winner of his career in the 56th minute, and Yan Pessoa de Oliveira tacked on another converted header in the 82nd as SOU took a 2-0 decision off the Beacons and extended the longest winning streak in team history to eight games at Raider Stadium.
The Raiders (8-2 overall, 5-0 Cascade Conference) set up perhaps the biggest game left on their regular-season schedule at 1:30 p.m. Sunday against No. 18-ranked Corban, which will come in tied with SOU for first place.
In their sixth shutout during the streak, the Raiders' offense was produced courtesy of assists from juniors Gonzalo Garcia and Zac Hansen. Garcia sent a liner from just inside the left corner for Addie's point-blank header – his fifth goal of the season – and Hansen got his assist on a throw-in just above the right corner that led Pessoa de Oliveira right in front of the goal.
Wyatt Zabinski needed to make three saves for his fifth solo shutout of the year. He faced seven shots compared to the 15 directed at NCU's Julian Hernandez.
The win was SOU's 10th in a row at Raider Stadium since the start of last season and the fourth of 2018. The Raiders have given up goals in just two of those games.
The Beacons dropped to 2-6-1 overall and 1-3-1 in the CCC.
SOU will be shooting for its first-ever regular-season win against Corban. The teams matched up in last year's CCC tournament championship, a 2-1 Raiders victory.
