KIRKLAND, Wash. – Whitman College (1-2-0) held Northwest University (1-1-1) scoreless, ending the Eagles’ preseason with a disappointing 2-0 loss. Whitman jumped out early in the first half, scoring its first goal in the 6th minute, and adding another one in the 28th.

Northwest goalkeepers Blake Dornay and Noah Roberts made a total of five saves in the game, but in the end, were unable to keep up with the mass of shots hurled at them.

Whitman’s consistently aggressive offense led to a multitude of goal-scoring opportunities. They ended the game having shot 21 times, to Northwest’s 4 shots. Although the Eagles tried again and again to counter Whitman’s offensive strategy with an offense of their own, they could never find the back of the net.

Northwest head coach Gary McIntosh said of the game, “Today we came out flat and made some early mistakes that cost us.  Then you play from behind the rest of the game, which is tough to do.  I felt in the second half, we played much better and created a few opportunities to get a goal, but in the end, it just was not our day.  Now preseason is over, and all focus turns to the start of conference play.”
