ASHLAND – Shooting woes cost Southern Oregon again Saturday night in a 66-61 loss to Corban in Cascade Conference play at Lithia Motors Pavilion.

The Raiders missed their first eight attempts in spotting the Warriors a 13-0 lead and wound up shooting at a dismal 29-percent clip, which stopped them from getting over the hump after cutting a 14-point second-half deficit to two with three minutes to play.

SOU (13-7, 3-6 CCC) committed only six turnovers and got up 18 more field-goal attempts than Corban (13-6, 4-5), but the extra chances weren't enough. They've shot 40 percent or worse in four of their last five games.

Corban's Jaxon Hughes hit his first three triples to finish with a game-high 16 points and Joel Johnson went for 12 points and 10 rebounds. The Warriors' win was their first in Ashland since 2006. They made six free throws in a row in the final two minutes to secure it.

Tristen Holmes' 16 points, eight rebounds and four assists led the Raiders. Jordan Hunt posted 15 points and six boards, Teron Bradford scored 11 and Brad Allen had seven points and five rebounds off the bench.

Hunt's layup trimmed the deficit to 58-56 with 2:44 to go before the Raiders missed their next six attempts.

They'll be on the road next weekend, playing Friday at Evergreen (Wash.) and Saturday at Northwest (Wash.).
