CCC Mascot Challenge Quarterfinal Matchups Set

LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) has officially announced the results from the first round of voting of the sixth annual CCC Mascot Challenge. Eight school mascots have advanced to the quarterfinal round of this year’s competition, with a trio of institutional icons being eliminated from contention.

The opening round consisted of one group featuring all 11 school mascots, with the top-eight vote-getters advancing to the next round of voting. The results from the 24-hour poll are listed below, listed in order of each mascot’s total votes and subsequent seeding for the following quarterfinal round.

#1 Hootie the Owl (Oregon Tech) - 199
#2 Cadmar the Warrior (Corban) – 178
#3 Monty the Mountaineer (Eastern Oregon) – 137
#4 Yote the Coyote (College of Idaho) – 86
#5 Speedy Q the Geoduck (Evergreen) – 80
#6 Wally the Wolf (Walla Walla) – 54
#7 Swoops the Eagle (Northwest) – 44
#8 Mr. Beacon (Northwest Christian) – 35

Nitro the Knight (Warner Pacific), Mitch the Lion (Multnomah), and Rocky the Raider (Southern Oregon) have all been eliminated from the competition.
 
The subsequent three rounds will be facilitated via the conference’s Twitter (@cccsports) and the CCC Instagram (@cascadeconference) story. Mascots are seeded by the number of votes received in round one, with a combined tally of votes garnered on both Twitter and Instagram determining who will advance to the semifinals.

Jan. 16: Voting opens (top-eight advance to quarterfinals) at 8 a.m. PST
Jan. 17: Voting closes for round one at 8 a.m. PST
 
The top-eight will be announced on January 17.

Jan. 21 (2 vs. 7) – Cadmar (Corban) vs. Swoops (Northwest)
Jan. 22 (3 vs. 6) – Monty (Eastern Oregon) vs. Wally (Walla Walla)
Jan. 23 (1 vs. 8) – Hootie (Oregon Tech) vs. Mr. Beacon (Northwest Christian)
Jan. 24 (4 vs. 5) – Yote (College of Idaho) vs. Speedy Q (Evergreen)

The CCC Mascot Challenge winner will be announced on February 5.
