LA GRANDE,Ore. - The No. 13 Eastern Oregon women's basketball team is taking over the Cascade Collegiate Conference as they knocked off Northwest Christian (8-4, 4-8 CCC) 89-51 on Saturday night at Quinn Coliseum for their 17th straight win this season.

Working off of the previous night's performance, senior guard Maya Ah You Dias had a team high of 23 points and nine rebounds all while only playing 20 minutes, with just four in the second half. Madison Crews, a junior guard from Centralia, Washington, also had an impressive night with 13 points, three rebounds and 10 assists for the double-double. Senior Maren Herrud had 10 points of her own with three rebounds.

The entire EOU squad made an appearance on the court and scored points, contributing to their impressive 56.3% field goal percentage as well as their behind the arc shooting of 8-for-24.  EOU limited their own turnovers but forced 25 points off of NCU's mistakes on offense.

The first quarter was a running start for the Mountaineers. Senior forward Julia Hanni scored the first two points of the game with an easy layup to get the Mountie momentum going. After a good three by NCU, Crews managed a steal and took it down the court to sink a three in response to the Beacons. This is when the Blue and Gold kicked into gear. Beginning to take over quarter with a run of six points, they made the score 19-10.

Starting out the second quarter, Crews and Hanni had the first four points for the Mountaineers. Herrud, sinking one of her two threes at 36-16, dished out a couple assists on key plays that included a three by junior guard Whitney Meier to end the first half. Scoring 46 points in two quarters, the Blue and Gold ultimately ended the half with a 23 point lead over the Beacons.

Starting the second half, the Mountaineers were pushing the Beacons to their limits as they could not answer the EOU fire. The Blue and Gold incorporated several Mountaineers to continue the domination including juniors Jane Nelson, Kiley Smith, Andi Warn and Emma Logan.

Nine Mountaineers had at least five points in the contest. In just the fourth quarter, there were five made three pointers by four different Mounties all in the last eight minutes of the game. With this solid offensive effort, the Beacons had nothing left and eventually the Mountaineers closed out the dominating 89-51 win in Quinn Coliseum.

Jenna Christenson led the Beacons with 11 points as they were held to 31 percent shooting for the evening.

The Mountaineer's next take on the Yotes of College of Idaho at home on Tuesday for the second I-84 rivalry game.
