The following CCC student-athletes have been recognized as Red Lion Players of the Week for their performances during the period January 14-20

Men’s Wrestling

Montana State-Northern’s Isaac Bartel has been named the Red Lion men’s Wrestler of the Week.

No. 1 ranked Bartel, a sophomore out of Mason City, Iowa, was outstanding at the Missouri Valley Invitational on Friday. Bartel went 5-0 at the invite, taking first place. The path to get there was far from easy, as he had to take down three nationally-ranked athletes en route to the individual title, including No. 3-ranked David Dow in the championship round.

Men’s Basketball

Corban’s AJ Hodges has been chosen as the Red Lion men’s basketball Player of the Week.

After an efficient 4-for-7 showing with 14 points in a tough three-point loss at Eastern Oregon, Hodges led Corban from 18 points down at halftime to a buzzer-beating overtime comeback on Saturday, scoring 33 points en route to upsetting No. 2-ranked College of Idaho. In the second half and overtime, he scored 30 of his 33 points, and he nailed eight long-range efforts while going 12-for-23 from the field overall.

Ah You Dias continued her fantastic stretch over the weekend, adding two more strong performances to her 2018-19 résumé. The senior guard averaged 25 points and nine boards in the No. 13-ranked Mountaineers’ perfect weekend, helping push Eastern Oregon’s win streak to 17 games.

Kristopher Kostelecky of College of Idaho has been selected as the Red Lion men’s indoor field Athlete of the Week.

Kostelecky, a junior out of Twin Falls, Idaho, recorded an over 100-point PR in the heptathlon, hitting the NAIA national cut and logging the No. 3 mark thus far in the NAIA for the 2019 season. In addition, Kostelecky placed second in the high jump (1.93 m) and fourth in the long jump (7.23 m) along the way, rounding out his dazzling performance at the Ed Jacoby Invite.

The top-16 athletes at the end of the year qualify for the national meet on February 28-March 2. Her pentathlon was highlighted by her 1.70-meter mark in the high jump, an automatic qualifying mark itself for nationals (the No. 4 mark in the NAIA this season) and No. 2 in the all-time EOU record books.
