No. 10 Mountaineers Down Walla Walla 98-47

LA GRANDE, Ore. – The No. 10 Eastern Oregon women’s basketball team continued to roll on Friday afternoon, defeating Walla Walla 98-47 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play.
 
The Mountaineers (19-2, 13-0 CCC) led from start to finish for their 19th win in a row. In dominating fashion, EOU shot 53.6 percent from the field while holding the Wolves (2-20, 1-12 CCC) to just 28.6 percent shooting. EOU outrebounded the Wolves 48-21
 
A big 29-7 first quarter set the tone for the rest of the game for EOU, who took a 55-19 lead into the halftime locker room.
 
The Blue and Gold had six players in double-digits scoring, led by 18 points on 7-for-9 shooting by junior Jane Nelson. Senior Maren Herrud had 14 points and freshman Beverly Slater posted 12 points and nine rebounds. Senior Maya Ah You Dias, junior Emma Logan and sophomore Jillian Albright each had 10 points. Junior Madison Crews led the team with eight assists, adding six points. Logan and junior Andi Warn each had five assists.
 
The win gives the Mountaineers 40-staight wins at Quinn Coliseum along with 42-straight CCC regular season victories. Including the CCC tournament, EOU has won 48 games in a row against conference opponents.
 
Carolina Montes had a great game for the Wolves, finishing with a game-high 29 points with five made three pointers.
 
The Mountaineers host the Wolves once against on Saturday night, with game time set for 8 p.m. at Quinn Coliseum.
