A night after scoring 24 points in just 27 minutes while getting to rest last in the second half, May was called upon for 38 minutes of play against a hungry Northwest (10-11, 2-7 CCC) squad. The sophomore guard took 26 shots, sinking 14 while finishing 4-for-4 at the free throw line. May also led the team with eight rebounds and three steals. Free throws were crucial down the stretch for the Mountaineers (10-8, 5-2 CCC). The team made 7-of-8 shots from the charity stripe on the final 30 seconds of the game, including two by May, two by junior Joel Anderson and three by freshman Zane Wright. The free throws were crucial as the Eagles sunk to late three-pointers that each cut EOU’s lead to one possession. The Mountaineers led the entire second half and by as many as 14 points with 16:04 to play. However, Northwest would not go away, cutting EOU’s lead to 73-71 with 3:11 to play.
