Walla Walla Drops Match to Northwest Christian University

College Place, Wash. -Walla Walla hosted the Beacons of Northwest Christian University (NCU) Sunday afternoon. The Beacons (13-8, 5-7 CCC) took advantage of 27 Wolves (1-18, 0-12 CCC) errors and swept them in straight sets, 25-14, 25-16, 25-19.
Set one saw the Wolves score the first two points of the set before the visiting Beacons put together a 6-0 run to claim the lead. The teams traded points before another 6-0 run by the Beacons put them in control of the set and they continued their attack, winning the set 25-14.
Set two saw the Beacons score six of the first seven points. The Beacons continued their momentum, aided by 11 errors in the set, claiming a 25-16 set two victory.
In set three, both teams traded points before the Beacons broke a 4-4 tie with a 7-1 run that seemed to be the difference in the set. The Wolves continued to battle, however, but they could not overcome the early deficit and dropped set three, 25-16. The win gives the Beacons a 2-1 road trip, while the Wolves remain winless on their home court.
The Beacons were led by Natalie Downes (8 kills, .412 %), Makenna Northern (28 assists), and Kayla Olson (13 digs).
The Wolves has three players register four-plus kills, while Ka’ilulani Chamberlain led the home team in passing, notching seven assists.
The Wolves continue their season with a road trip against two top-25 opponents. No. 23 College of Idaho will serve as the Wolves first opponent. The match is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. (MST) on Friday, October 18 in Caldwell, Idaho. The Wolves follow that match by traveling to No. 5 Eastern Oregon University for a match the following night, with first serve beginning at 7:30 p.m. Northwest Christian returns home for a matchup against Northwest University (10-9, 8-5 CCC) on Friday, October 18 at 7:00 p.m.
