Red Lion Players of the Week Announced
The following CCC student-athletes have been recognized as Red Lion Players of the Week for their performances during the period Oct. 6-12.
Volleyball - Attacker
No. 5-ranked Eastern Oregon University’s Megan Bunn was named the Red Lion Volleyball Attacker of the Week, her second honor of the season.
Bunn, a six-foot senior middle from Banks, Ore., had a season-high 21 kills in the wild five-set victory over No. 7 Corban University. After a slow first two sets for EOU, Bunn took over the match to lead the Mounties to the comeback, down 2-0. She added 12 kills on Saturday vs. NCU. Overall, she finished with 19 digs, seven block assists and two aces in the two home wins.

Volleyball - Defender
Fifth-ranked Eastern Oregon University’s Kiley McMurtrey was named the Red Lion Volleyball Defender of the Week for the sixth time this year.
The 5-foot-3 junior defensive specialist from Idaho Falls, Idaho, eclipsed 20 digs in both matches this week, averaging 24. McMurtrey had 25 digs in the five-set win over No. 7 Corban. She also had two service aces to lead EOU to a 21-1 overall record and grab its 10th win in a row.

Volleyball - Setter
No. 5-ranked Eastern Oregon University’s Madison Pilon was named the Red Lion Volleyball Setter of the Week for the fourth time this season.
The 5-foot-11 junior setter from Olympia, Wash., had two outstanding matches including a double-double match vs. No. 7 Corban. Pilon posted 44 assists and 20 digs, including six block assists in the tough five-set win over the Warriors. Against NCU, she continued her strong play with 37 more assists. Pilon also had three aces on the weekend.

Women’s Soccer – Defensive
University of Providence’s Jenna Evertz was named the Red Lion Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
The 5-foot-5 junior goalkeeper from Polson, Mont., picked up her first career win and first career shutout on her second-ever career start. She tallied nine saves on the weekend, including six in the Argos’ 2-0 victory over Corban University.

Women’s Soccer - Offensive
Northwest University’s Callie Wright was named the Red Lion Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, her second of the year.
A five-foot freshman forward from Woodway, Wash., Wright helped the Eagles to their school-record 11th consecutive win with 11 points in two games, including a hat trick with an assist in one contest. She had two multi-goal games, both coming on the road.

Men’s Soccer – Defensive
Southern Oregon University’s Kelly Gieber was named the Red Lion Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
The 5-foot-11 senior defender from Bend, Ore., helped the Raiders hold their opponents to two combined shots on goal on the weekend. Gieber also set up the game-winner against College of Idaho, giving him 17 career assists - the most for any Raider in the five-year history of the team.

Men’s Soccer - Offensive
No. 24-ranked Corban University’s Camilo Avendano was named the Red Lion Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
Avendano, a 5-foot-6 senior midfielder from Cape Coral, Fla., played a key role in each of Corban's two wins over the weekend, netting a goal and adding an assist in each of the two games. Avendano now ranks third in the CCC in assists with seven, while having scored a trio of goals in 2019.

Men’s Cross Country – Runner
Eastern Oregon University’s Alex Navarro was named the Red Lion Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week.
Navarro, a senior from Benton City, Wash., broke the EOU cross country program record with an incredible race on Saturday for the Mountaineers. His time of 23 minutes, 51.0 seconds broke the previous record (24:00.0) that was set by EOU and NAIA Hall of Famer Don Stearns in 1982. Navarro shaved over a minute off hid previous best in an absolutely loaded field that included runners from the University of Calgary, Gonzaga, Idaho and Lewis-Clark State. He took seventh place overall, leading EOU to a seventh place team finish.
Women’s Golf – Golfer
Northwest Christian University’s Kelsie Hellwege was named the Red Lion Women’s Golfer of the Week.
Hellwege, a junior from Eugene, Ore., led the Beacons to a second-place finish at the Lake Tahoe Collegiate, hosted by Sierra Nevada College at Incline Village Country Club. She took fifth individually out of 20 golfers, finishing with a 169 (81, 88).
Men’s Golf – Golfer
Northwest Christian University’s Seth King was named the Red Lion Men’s Golfer of the Week.
King, a freshman from Corvallis, Ore., led NCU to a victory at the Lake Tahoe Collegiate, hosted by Sierra Nevada College at Incline Village Country Club. He shot the only sub-par round of the tournament in round one and took second individually.
