Men's Basketball 10/26/2019 2:37:00 AM Iain Dexter, EOU Sports Information Director Men’s Basketball Wins Opener 109-81 Over Westcliff LA GRANDE, Ore. – Three players reached 20 points for the Eastern Oregon men's basketball team as they defeated Westcliff 109-81 in the team's regular season opener at the Quinn Classic on Friday. Junior Max McCullough, in his first game since the 2017-18 season, led the team with 27 points in his return to Quinn Coliseum. McCullough shot 5-for-9 from behind the arc in 31 minutes, adding four rebounds. Senior Jarek Schetzle added a big game with 21 points and 13 rebounds for the double-double. Junior transfer Josh Brown shot 8-for-12, scoring 20 points in his first game as a Mountaineer. EOU got out to a big lead in the first half, heading into the halftime locker room with a 57-28 advantage. The Mounties shot over 56 percent from the field in the half while holding the Warriors to 28 percent. Westcliff shot much better in the second half at 52 percent, but could not contain the EOU offense as they continued to shoot lights out. Overall, 11 different players scored for the Mountaineers. EOU finished with a 49-36 advantage in rebounds.
