KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Oregon Tech (9-4-3, 5-4-2 CCC) battled to a scoreless draw against Warner Pacific University (8-5-2, 5-4-2 CCC) on Saturday afternoon at the OIT Soccer Field despite outshooting the Knights 17-10 on Senior Day as the Owls honored its seven Seniors -Daniel Blessinger, Joey Driessen, Brennan Gazdik, Lucas Hale, Devin Lutz, Nick Lynch and Case Roske.
"This was a hard-fought match for the gents and will be an extremely valuable point to help us extend our season," said Head Coach
Brandon Porter. "I am so happy for and extremely proud of our 7 seniors and the careers they have had on this field. Congrats boys and go Owls!!!"
The Hustlin' Owls went on the offensive early, outshooting the Knights 7-3 in the first period. However, Warner's defense stood the test and none of the shots made it through. The second half was closer, though Tech still led at 7-6.
As the game went into overtime, both teams locked down defensively, allowing no on-target shots.
Freshman John Sarna led the way with five shots, followed by senior Cade Roske with four and senior Joey Driessen and sophomore Anthony Santillan with two shots each. All four players had a single shot on goal and freshman Kyle Wright added the fifth with his sole shot.
For Warner Pacific, Breno Senna, Nebnoma Nana and Kingsley Armah each made two shots. Goalkeeper Juan Inzunza made five saves in the game.
The Hustlin' Owls will hit the road next weekend to take on Northwest University in Kirkland, Washington on Friday and the Evergreen State College in Olympia on Saturday, with games at 12:00pm and 1:00pm, respectively.
