INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. –For the first time in over two years, the Northwest Christian University men’s golf team has claimed a victory, winning the Sierra Nevada Invitational on Tuesday by 19 strokes.
The Beacons took a commanding lead after shooting a 296 on Monday and added to their advantage on Tuesday, finishing at 613 for the event. The Master’s College followed in second place (632) while William Jessup University was third (643).
Individually, Seth King and Garison Lyman (pictured) tied for second place, shooting two-round totals of 153. The pair were sitting 1-2 after the opening round in which King posted the only sub-par round of the tournament with a 71 and Lyman scored an even-par 72.
Andrew Webb was fifth for the Beacons (76-79—155) while Liam Bedford took sixth (83-75—158).
Also competing for NCU were Nathan Mallory, taking ninth (77-84—161) and Alvaro Molina, golfing as an individual and finishing 15
th (81-85—166).
The last tournament victory for the Beacons came at the Cascade Collegiate Conference Championship back in April 2017.
NCU will be off for two weeks before closing the fall season at home, hosting the NCU Fall Invitational on October 26-27 at Emerald Valley Golf Course in Creswell.
