SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – Eastern Oregon punched their ticket to the NAIA National Championship in a shootout and Corban University scored a game-winner with less than a minute to play in the semifinal round of the 2019 Cascade Collegiate Conference Men’s Soccer Tournament Presented by U.S. Bank.

#1 Corban 4, #7 Evergreen 3

Senior Camilo Avendano (pictured) completed a hat-trick as he fired home a 30-yard blast with 59 seconds remaining, lifting the top-seeded Warriors to a 4-3 victory and a spot in Friday’s championship game.

Avedano put Corban on the board quickly when his corner kick in the third minute had enough English to bounce at the goal line and slip directly into the net. Just nine minutes later he put the Warriors up 2-0 with another score, taking a pass from Matheus Giron.

After an eventful first half, Corban led 3-2 and the score remained as such until the 76th minute. Evergreen tied the game with a second goal from Lucas Alcala before the Warriors clinched the victory late.

Corban held a 15-4 lead in shot attempts with all four Evergreen shots landing on-frame.

#5 Eastern Oregon 2, #3 Southern Oregon 2 (EOU Advances on PKs, 5-4)

Fifth-seeded Eastern Oregon completed their second upset in as many days, advancing past Southern Oregon University in a shootout. As either the CCC tournament champion, or the runner-up to regular-season champion Corban, the Mountaineers locked up the conference’s second Automatic bid to the NAIA National Championship.

EOU took advantage early, scoring on their only two shots-on-goal of the game including the first off the foot of Alexander Zuluaga in the fifth minute. With five minute remaining in the first half, Eastern went ahead 2-0 as Patrick Larsen put one into the back of the net off a pass from Erik Mattice.

The second half belonged to the Raiders as they out-shot EOU 10-1 and peppered six shots on goal. They began mounting their comeback in the 63rd minute when Luis Aguilar scored and pulled even in the 82nd minute on a strike from CCC Defensive Player of the Year Michael Miller.
