Hot Shooting from Martin Propels Lions to a 137-116 Win Over New Hope
PORTLAND, Ore.- The Multnomah University men's basketball team faced off against the New Hope Deacons at 2:00 PM on Saturday on the final day of the Rose City Classic tournament. The Lions improved ball movement and hot shooting from beyond the arc, 30-61 three's, propelled them to a 137-116 victory.
The Lions backcourt showed just how deadly they can be when Justin Martin scored 42 points and dished out 8 assists, while his teammate Zach Richardson finished with 28 points. Martin and Richardson combined for 15 of the Lions 30 three's.
Freshman Jaeden Ingram found his rhythm on the offensive end early and finished with 15 points and 7 rebounds, and Grant Balvanz added 12 points.
Lions center Stepan Zavydovskyy was a presence on the floor finishing with a season high 4 blocks and reeled in 7 rebounds of his own.
New Hope forward Robert Knox had an impressive performance, racking up a game high 46 points and 10 rebounds while his teammate Malcom Hudson-Haynes dropped 36 poins as well.
Coach Curt Bickley had nothing but praise for the Lions leader, "Justin was just tremendous in the first half and his teammates fed off of it. Incredible 3 days of shooting as a team."
The Lions next game is Friday, November 8th when they travel to Caldwell, Idaho to participate in the Taco Bell Shootout Tournament. Multnomah will challenge Montana Tech at 5:00 PM.
