Vancouver, Wash. - (Results) Madonna (Mich.) won its first-ever national title Friday at the 2019 NAIA Women’s Cross Country National Championships at the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site in Vancouver, Wash. The Crusaders accumulated 111 total points for the 5K race.

Two of five Crusader’s scoring individuals finished among the top 15 with Christina Murphy and Alison Shapic finishing back-to-back. Murphy, who finished 14th at the 2018 national championships, took 14th place again with a time of 18:22, while Shapic finished 15th with a time of 18:23.

This year’s individual title went to Hannah Stoffel of Huntington University, who crossed the finish line in a time of 17:18. Stoffel led for a majority of the race en route to becoming the first-ever individual champion for the Foresters. The junior from Huntington, Ind., was competing in the race for the first time.

College of Idaho took second in the team race with 147 points. The Coyotes were led by Larissa Mauer, who earned All-American honors with a 19th-place finish (18:27). SCAD Atlanta took third place with 163 points, while St. Francis (III.) (238 points) claimed fourth and Aquinas College (240 points) finished fifth.
