No. 14 Warrior Women’s Basketball’s Even Attack Leads to 81-68 Win over Simpson
SALEM, Ore. – The No. 14-ranked Corban University women's basketball team earned their second straight win on Friday night at the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center over the RedHawks of Simpson University by a score of 81-68.
The Warriors used a litany of strong performances in the game to score an impressive 81 points as a team.
"I loved our depth and balance tonight," said head coach Bill Pilgeram. "Having five players in double-figures makes us very toiugh to guard and every player came in and did their job well!"
Jordan Woodvine (15), Shawnie Spink (12), Shaelie Burgess (12), Lee Audrey Norris (10), and Kendra Murphy (10) each scored 10 points or more in the victory. The Warriors shot an astounding 50.9% from the field in the battle, their highest shooting percentage in a game this season thus far.
Corban moved the ball at an effective clip, assisting on 21 out of 29 made field goals. Off the bench, Gracie McCoy led the team in dimes with five.
Kendra Murphy was the Navy and Gold's all-around top performer, notching 10 points and nine rebounds in the game to help lead the Warriors to victory.
Simpson scored 68 points on 37.1% shooting in the game. Alli Ramelli led the charge for the RedHawks by scoring 19 points on 8-of-11 from the field.
Corban has now improved to 4-3 on the season after back-to-back triumphs on their home floor. The Warriors will begin conference play after a short break, when they host Northwest Christian University on Tuesday, December 3, to face their first Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) test in the 2019-20 season.
