Beacons Feast on Rebounds in Dominant Victory

EUGENE, Ore. – The Northwest Christian University men’s basketball team topped the century mark for the second straight game, defeating Northwest Indian College on Tuesday night, 102-55. NCU hauled in a record-tying 73 rebounds in the game including 21 on the offensive end to set up 25 second-chance points.
 
The victory was never in doubt for the Beacons as the built a 19-5 lead over the opening six minutes. By the time the intermission rolled around, NCU had a 48-26 lead which they more than doubled over the final 20 minutes.
 
The Beacons shot 45% from the field in the game while holding the Eagles to 26% shooting. NCU out-rebounded NWIC, 73-43 and had 12 blocks in the game.
 
Kaden Sand led the way for NCU (3-5), scoring 23 points and nine rebounds as he hit five of the Beacons eight three-pointers. Shawn Carson (pictured) came off the bench to score 12 along with a game-high 11 rebounds for his first double-double of the season. Kaleb Anundi nearly grabbed a double-double of his own with 14 points and nine boards while Logan Davis scored 13 points with four assists. Dyshawn Hobson led all players with six assists in the win.
 
The Eagles (0-17) were led by Ryan Thompson scoring 15 points as he hit three triples. Samuel Marqueda added 13 points and three assists while Steven Sotomish came off the bench to score six points with ten rebounds.
 
NCU will return from a brief Thanksgiving break to prepare for the start of the Cascade Collegiate Conference season. Next Tuesday they will head for Salem to take on Corban University at 7:30 pm.
