RACE RESULTS

EUGENE, Ore. – Behind the strength of four All-Cascade Collegiate Conference finishers, No. 2 College of Idaho claimed the Cascade Collegiate Conference championship on Friday morning for the second year in a row. Northwest University senior Riley Sine took the individual title.

The Yotes scored 43 points in the event, distancing themselves by 16 points from No. 5 Southern Oregon. Coupled with the victory for the C of I women, this is the first time since 2009 that both the men's and women's championships went to the same school. No. 17 Oregon Tech took third with 84 points and No. 23 Eastern Oregon followed in fourth (110).

In fifth-place was Northwest University, narrowly defeating sixth-place Northwest Christian, 158-165. Corban followed in seventh place (168) and Walla Walla University too eighth (175).

Sine (pictured above) ran the 8000m course in 25 minutes, 15 seconds, narrowly sneaking past Southern Oregon’s Brandon Kelsey (25:19). Alex Navarro from Eastern Oregon followed in third (25:21) with College of Idaho duo Cole Campbell (25:27) and Alex Martin (25:28) rounding out the top-five.

With the victory, The College of Idaho claims the automatic bid to the NAIA National Championship, taking place on November 22 and hosted by the CCC at Fort Vancouver in Vancouver, Washington. The Cascade Conference will also claim a host bid to the tournament which will go to the highest finishing team from today’s race to not take an at-large bid. Those final announcements will come from the NAIA early next week.

After the race, awards were given out based on a vote of the CCC coaches. Sine was named the 2019 CCC Male Runner of the Year, C of I’s Austin Basterrechea earned Coach of the Year honors, and Eastern Oregon University was named the Sportsmanship Award winner.
