The Mountaineers (3-1) seemed to hold a comfortable 56-41 lead entering the fourth quarter over the Bulldogs, but founds themselves in a late dog fight as the lead nearly evaporated. Montana Western shot 7-for-12 from the field in the final 10 minutes and pulled to within one point of EOU with under a minute left. A couple of made free throws by senior Rachel Fielder helped extend the lead back to three points, and EOU held on defensively in the Bulldogs' final possession. The Blue and Gold never trailed after taking a 3-2 lead on a three-pointer by Fielder in the game's opening minutes. EOU then stormed out to a 22-10 first quarter lead thanks to shooting 5-for-6 from behind the arc, all by different players.
