Schlabach's Hot Hand Leads Beacons Over Lutes

Eugene, Ore. - The Northwest Christian University men's basketball team won 91-84 against Pacific Lutheran at home on Saturday led by freshman Stevie Schlabach and junior Logan Sand, the Beacons second unit outscored the Lutes 53-9 in the victory.  

After being tied 40-40 at halftime, the Beacons managed to shoot 8-10 from beyond the arc and 7-8 from the free throw line down the stretch to outscore the Lutes 51-44 in the second half. 

Schlabach (pictured) had the hot hand as he led the Beacons (6-5, 1-0 CCC) with a career-high 31 points on 10-12 shooting from the field and 7-9 from behind the three point line. Kaden Sand had 16 points with a game-high nine rebounds and five blocks while Logan Sand chipped in 15 points and six assists. Sophomore Malik Corey had six points and a game-high eight assists while Shawn Carson added six points, eight rebounds, and three blocks in the victory. 
 
Jordan Thomas led the Lutes (3-5) 35 points, eight rebounds and three assists while Conor Geiger added 12 points and seven rebounds. Seth Hall added 21 points in the loss. 

The Beacons will look to continue their win streak as they take on Evergreen (3-4, 0-3 CCC) on Friday, December 20, at 7:30pm at the Morse Event Center
