EOU's McMurtrey named to CoSIDA Academic All-AmericaA® NAIA Volleyball Team
AUSTIN, Texas - Eastern Oregon University's Kiley McMurtrey, a junior libero from Post Falls, Idaho, earned First Team Academic All-American honors by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
The NAIA Academic All-America® program is financially supported by the NAIA national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2019-20 NAIA Academic All-America® teams.
Being named to the first team for the NAIA, McMurtrey was one of just seven volleyball players to receive the first-team accolade. This award not only considers outstanding performance on the court but also in the classroom, which McMurtrey boasts having a 4.0 GPA majoring in Physical Activity and Health. Because of her dedication to her education, she will graduate a year early while still having a year left to play volleyball for the Mountaineers.
Being the only junior captain, McMurtrey has lead the Mountaineer volleyball team defensively since her freshman year. The 2019 CCC Libero of the Year received All-CCC honors and was named to the CoSIDA District Team this season as well. Playing in every single set in the 2019 campaign, McMurtrey led the CCC in digs per set with 5.1 as well as total digs at 667 and was ranked 27th in the NAIA for total digs.
McMurtrey, the recipient of multiple CCC Player of the Week awards, was one of the key players who pushed the Mountaineers to grab wins over six top-25 teams as well as a top-16 finish at the national tournament for this 2019 season.
