McMINNVILLE, Ore. – Cold shooting haunted the Corban University women's basketball team in the squad's final game of the 2019 season. The Warriors fell to NCAA Division III Linfield College on Monday evening by a final score of 58-40, going 0-for-14 from three in the defeat.
"We played hard tonight, but just couldn't get the ball in the basket," said head coach Bill Pilgeram. "We'll get right back at it tomorrow and get ready for a big road trip this weekend!"
Corban shot 25.7% from the floor on the evening, struggling to gain traction on the offensive end.
The two squads matched each other basket-for-basket in the first quarter, with Linfield taking a narrow three-point advantage into the second stanza. The Wildcats expanded upon that lead in the next quarter, but the contest was far from beyond reach at the midway point.
Unfortunately for the Navy and Gold, Linfield found its rhythm in the second half, shooting nearly 50 percent from the floor as a team. Kory Oleson—who played all 20 minutes of the latter half—led the way for the team with nine of her game-high 21 points.
Delaney Ragan also ended the night in double-figures for the Wildcats, scoring 10 points in 28 minutes. At the glass, Molly Danielson pulled down a team-leading 11 boards, while adding eight points of her own.
For Corban, Jordan Woodvine spearheaded the offense, finishing with 19 points and seven rebounds. Three different members of the Warrior roster tied for the team lead in rebounds, with Shaelie Burgess, Bri Turner, and Kendra Murphy each tallying eight boards.
Serving as a bright spot in the loss, Gracie McCoy provided a spark off the bench, scoring six points (3-of-6 FG) in nine minutes.
Monday evening's contest marked the final non-conference duel of Corban's 2019-20 season, with the squad setting its sights on a rigorous upcoming slate of Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) matchups in 2020.
The challenging road ahead will begin with a pivotal road series this weekend, starting with College of Idaho on Friday, and concluding with No. 18 Eastern Oregon on Saturday. Tip-off for both contests is slated for 5:30 p.m. local time.
