Tacoma, Wash. - The Northwest Christian University women's basketball team was able to capture a victory on the road Friday night as they beat Pacific Lutheran (Wash.) 73-65.
After trailing 3-2 in the opening minutes, the Beacons were able to retake the lead and never look back as they lead for the rest of the game. NCU made a season low two three pointers on eleven attempts, however, they were able to make up their shooting woes at the free throw line as they shot 15-21 on the night. The Beacons defense was tough all night as they held the Lutes to shoot just 29% from the field.
Junior Morgan McKinney (pictured) was back to her usual ways as she led the Beacons (4-2, 1-0 CCC) with a game-high 24 points, eight rebounds and five assists while Kayce Mock had nine points to go with a game-high nine rebounds and a season-high six blocks. Shanay Dotson scored 10 points and six rebounds while Hannah Eddens added 13 points off the bench in the victory.
Katie Taylor led the Lutes (4-2) with a game-high 24 points, five rebounds and five assists on 8-13 shooting from beyond the arc. Emma Janousek scored 11 points, five assists and five steals while Madison Salisbury added seven points and six rebounds in the loss. The Lutes outrebounded the Beacons on the offensive end 23-11.
The Beacons will continue their road trip on Sunday, December 8, as they take on Eastern Washington University in an exhibition game at 1pm.
