Jordan Woodvine Scores Game-High 26 Points to Lead No. 23-Ranked Corban Over Walla Walla

College Place, Wash. – Walla Walla women’s basketball continued its weekend series against No. 23-Ranked Corban University. Warriors (6-4, 2-1 CCC)  forward Jordan Woodvine scored a game-high 26 points to lead the Warriors to a 70-52 win over Walla Walla (2-6, 0-2) while improving to 2-1 in the conference season.
 
The defense propelled the Wolves (2-7, 0-2 CCC) early, as the home team built an 8-2 lead midway through the quarter. Isabella Robles led the way for the Wolves, knocking down two 3-pointers. Carolina Montes added to the Wolves lead (13-5), scoring five points on back-to-back possessions. The Wolves ended the quarter holding a 13-5 advantage while forcing the Warriors into eight turnovers and holding them to 14-percent shooting in the quarter.
 
The Wolves continued their attack, as Jaliyah Casem converted a mid-range jumper that extended the Wolves lead to 18-9. The Warriors chipped away for the next three minutes, as the visiting reeled off an 8-0 run to cut the deficit to 18-17 with just under four minutes remaining. A Kendra Murphy three-point play at the 2:49 mark gave the Warriors their first lead of the game at 20-18. The Warriors continued their offensive attack and entered the half leading 24-20. The Warriors held the Wolves to seven second-quarter points and 14-percent shooting in the quarter.
 
The Warriors continued building their lead coming out of the half as Jordan Woodvine scored five of Corbans 9-3 run to extend the Warriors lead to 33-23. The Wolves continued battling back, but they could not find an answer for Woodvine as the forward dropped in 14 of her game-high 21 points to help the Warriors to a 42-33 lead before being subbed at the one-minute mark. The Wolves continued chipping away, cutting the deficit to six and entering the final frame trailing 46-40.
 
The Warriors answered the Wolves run and started the final quarter out with a 7-3 run to extend their lead back to double digits. The Warriors pushed the lead out to 16 as Jordan Woodvine continued to put her imprint on the game, scoring five more points to extend her game-high point total to 26 points. The Warriors continued to hold their double-digit lead and took home a 70-52 victory.
 
The Wolves were led by Carolina Montes (17 points and 4 steals) and Isabella Robles (11 points).
 
The Warriors were led by Jordan Woodvine and her game-high 26 points. Kenda Murphy notched 12 points to go along with seven rebounds.
 
The Wolves continue their season on Thursday, traveling for a non-conference game in Lewiston, Idaho against No.12-Ranked Lewis-Clark State College. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
 
Corban will travel for an exhibition contest on Monday, December 16, taking on the Wolves of Western Oregon (Monmouth, Ore.) for a 3 p.m. contest.
