Red Lion Players of the Week Announced

The following CCC student-athletes have been recognized as Red Lion Players of the Week for their performances during the period February 11-17.
Men’s Wrestling
Brandon Weber of Montana State-Northern has been named the Red Lion men’s Wrestler of the Week.
Weber, a senior hailing from Forsyth, Mont., took first place at the CCC Tournament in the 157 weight class, downing two ranked opponents—No. 5 Casey Dobson and No. 3 James Williams. Weber’s matchup with Williams took place in the championship of the 157 bracket, defeating him by a 4-2 decision.

Men’s Basketball
Oregon Tech’s Mitchell Fink has been named the Red Lion men’s basketball Player of the Week.
Fink is no stranger to the CCC Player of the Week honors, and the junior guard out of Clackamas, Ore. was at his best during crunch time for the No. 10-ranked Owls this weekend. Fink had a game-high 23 points in Oregon Tech’s win over No. 3 College of Idaho on Saturday, helping his squad earn the 2018-19 CCC Regular-Season Championship. Prior to that, he racked up a double-double (10 points, 12 assists, five rebounds) in a win over Eastern Oregon.

Women’s Basketball
Oregon Tech’s Abby Kreiser has been named the Red Lion women’s basketball Player of the Week.
Oregon Tech is as hot as any team in the NAIA heading into the CCC Tournament, and Kreiser has been key to the Owls scorching stretch. The sophomore guard scored 16 points alongside five rebounds in the squad’s 74-69 victory over No. 9 Eastern Oregon, becoming the first team to down the Mountaineers in conference play. Kreiser then added 10 points and five boards against College of Idaho to extend the Owls’ win streak to 12.

Men’s Indoor Track
Northwest’s Riley Sine has been chosen as the Red Lion men’s indoor track Athlete of the Week.
Sine claims CCC Athlete of the Week honors again after another strong performance on Saturday. Competing in difficult conditions at the Multnomah University Last Chance Open, Sine took first place in the one mile, besting a field of 13 competitors with his time of 4:26.43.

Women’s Indoor Track
Ellie Summers of Northwest has been named the Red Lion women’s indoor track Athlete of the Week.
Summers, a freshman out of Lacey, Wash., competed well at the Multnomah University Last Chance Open on Saturday, despite having to run in difficult weather conditions. Summers took 1
st in the 1000-meter run with her time of 3:11.08, while also claiming the top spot in the 5000 meters with a 20:27.06 mark.

Softball – Hitting
Maya Jenkins of Northwest Christian has been named the Red Lion softball Player of the Week.
Jenkins had a monster day at the plate for the Beacons on Sunday, blasting a homer in both games of a doubleheader against NCAA Division III opponent Lewis & Clark. On the day, Jenkins went 3-for-5 with three runs and four runs driven in, accounting for more than half of the team’s total RBIs.

Softball – Pitching
Gabby Sandoval of Southern Oregon has been chosen as the Red Lion softball Player of the Week.
Sandoval, who claims CCC Pitcher of the Week honors for the second time already this season, was crucial to the No. 3-ranked Raiders’ perfect 4-0 week. The junior from Anaheim, Calif. picked up a win and a save in both of the squad’s doubleheader sweeps over the weekend, improving to 4-1 on the season and lowering her ERA to a measly 1.69.

Baseball – Hitting
AJ Davis of Lewis-Clark State has been selected as the Red Lion baseball Player of the Week.
Davis, a local product for No. 5 Lewis-Clark State, had a big week at the dish for the Warriors. The sophomore infielder led the team in hits (6) and runs (4), while also driving in five. In total, Davis finished the week 6-for-16 In four games against a pair of top-ranked opponents.

Baseball – Pitching
Lewis-Clark State’s Tyler Burch has been selected as the Red Lion baseball Pitcher of the Week.
Burch, the reigning NAIA West Pitcher of the Year, was sharp in his outing on the road against No. 7-ranked Antelope Valley over the weekend. The senior right-handed pitcher went seven strong to earn the win, scattering five hits and allowing just one run in the 7-4 victory. Striking out four without surrendering a walk, Burch’s performance helped the No. 5-ranked Warriors earn the series win over a tough top-10 opponent.
