ASHLAND –  Madison Holly's 29-point outburst carried fifth-seeded College of Idaho to a 73-70 upset of fourth-seeded Southern Oregonin the quarterfinal round of the Cascade Conference Championships presented by U.S. Bank on Tuesday at Lithia Motors Pavilion.

Holly, a senior guard, went 9-of-12 from the field with four 3-pointers and a pair of second-half three-point plays. She helped the Yotes (16-13) knock off SOU (16-11) for the second time in five days after they'd dropped the previous 13 head-to-head matchups.

They advanced to play at top-seeded Eastern Oregon in Friday's semifinals.

C of I shot 8-of-13 from 3-point range overall and was perfect on four attempts outside while outscoring the Raiders 22-13 in the third quarter, extending its lead to 53-40.

Behind Syd Fryer's career-best 30-point, 10-rebound performance, the Raiders made one last run after going down by as many as 15. It was 67-59 when she connected on a 3-pointer with 1:13 to go, and after SOU stole the ensuing inbounds pass, she was fouled and hit both free throws to cut the deficit to three.

The Raiders got the ball down 71-68 with 16 seconds left, but Jocelyn Cook-Cox interrupted their potential game-tying possession with a steal.

Mackenzie Royce complemented Holly in the backcourt with 18 points and four assists, while Cook-Cox posted 12 points and five rebounds inside.

Fryer scored 20 of her points in the fourth by hitting all six of her shots (she finished 10-of-12) and going 6-of-7 at the line. She added three steals, and Ariel Augustine (11 points) and Daranda Hinkey (10) joined her in double figures.

The Raiders ended at 41 percent from the field (24-of-59) but got in a hole by going 9-of-28 before halftime.
